There’s always been a certain refinement in Melbourne duo ALTA’s music that’s yielded well-rounded jams with a sense of pure originality. They’ve been bursting the electronic bubble for some time now, and though we’re never able to place them in the middle of any particular genre (that's a compliment here at HD), we’ve always had a spot for them in our playlists. Their nostalgic, experimental spirit is rooted in both the production of Julius Dowson, and the soft vocals of Hannah Lesser—and the two combine to produce a unique tone effort after effort, most recently here with “Hold Your Fire.” The track boasts a simplistic attitude with all excess sounds removed, clings tightly to its synth and snare-rooted spine, and turns out lovely as a result. The twosome has been keen on releasing copious amounts of music over the past couple of years, so before “Hold Your Fire” is released via Caroline Australia tomorrow, we’d recommend you hop on over to their SoundCloud and spend a few minutes browsing all they have to offer—especially given the amount of excellent music that’s available for free download.
