The year that alt-J had in 2012 was picturesque. With arguably the best album of the year (and taking home the coveted Mercury Prize [as voted the UK's best album] to show for it), the Leeds residents shot themselves up to the top of everyone's indie charts with the quickness. Now, two years, hundreds of shows, and a ton of festival appearances later, the band returns with their brand-new single, "Hunger Of The Pine", that's leading off their sophomore album, This Is All Yours, set for release September 22nd. Like the sonic texture we found employed on An Awesome Wave, "Hunger Of The Pine" is abstract and atmospheric, and yet, it's so in that alt-J way, which is to say, effortlessly capturing our imagination and turning it into something undeniably catchy. "Hunger Of The Pine" may not be a track that hits you the second you turn it on, but we think once you let the effort sink in, you're going to be in love.
