alt-J (∆) is a 3 piece group from Leeds, UK who get their band name from the key stroke of alt + J (yes, on your keyboard - but only on a Mac). This super secret key combination makes the ∆ symbol, so go ahead and try it for yourself. This triangle symbol is also used in mathematical equations to represent change and it is from this meaning that the band attaches itself to.
