Being an artist of quality and substance takes time. Those thrust into the spotlight too quickly often fail because of a lack of focused time dedicated to perfecting their craft. The importance of putting in 10,000 hours of practice cannot be overstated, and Australian rapper Allday has done his due diligence in that regard. Now, he seems poised for a breakthrough year in 2017, and, today, he's unleashed his new single, "Raceway", to set a precedent for what to expect in the coming year. The song transports the listener to a racetrack in Allday's head, where he is caught reminiscing on a relationship that went sour. It is the ageless story of two lost souls navigating young adulthood, drifting apart, and, ultimately, hardening toward each other to the point the relationship crumbles under the pressure. The opening line proves to be the most revealing, as the rapper admits, "I just can't love like it's back then / we've been through too many bad things".
