Alina Baraz and Galimatias' Urban Flora EP will go down as one of the year's best, and you can expect to see several tracks from it pop up on lists of all kinds come the year's end. One such track that'll see its due praise is "Pretty Thoughts", a collaboration between the two that actually came out a couple years ago, but was good enough to warrant inclusion on the aforementioned collaborative EP. Like all of their works together, it's a startling beautiful piece—absolutely perfect on its own and essentially immune to critique of any kind—but, in the right hands, perhaps its allure can be expounded upon, and that's exactly what FKJ, a favorite Parisian producer of ours, has been able to do here. This remix is not an expansion of the atmospheric sound that the original possesses, but rather, a debonair, groove-infested reworking that few can ever hope to pull off. FKJ is masterful at his craft, however, so his suave inclusions are not out-of-place-sounding or showy or anything like that at all. They are perfectly fitting and beautifying, befit for any occasion where beautiful and sophisticated energy is required. [via Complex]
