Akouo would be in the latter end of artists requiring an introduction on HD, but with every pristine piece the talent drops, we uncover an enclave of sonic finesse that we'd no prior grasp of. The extensively influenced artist seems also to have an unfathmable knack for blending a variety of styles, and, as we see with "Not Enough", his second release from forthcoming EP, Mesa, the results are nothing short of ingenious. What stands out most about the incessantly aspiring Tasmanian is simply his ability to flourish handsomely in a pasturage of unearthly sounds. On this second slice from the aforementioned DIE HIGH-released EP, warmth is emitted instantly, and an endearing, evolving swell initiating the lyricism triggers rather intense sentiments. A spontaneous yet seamless burst into the drop gives this effort a ton of substance, too, as the woody kicks, offbeat toms, and constant percussive additions make way for the vocals to tiptoe back in without the slightest inconvenience. Constant sweep inclusions and fresh chillwave synths help the piece mature at a terrific pace, and the previously mentioned vocal cuts style it all just that a bit higher. With less than two weeks until the release of Mesa, we've now a second track to excitedly savor; and if the rest are even remotely close to those we've bee able to hear already, Mesa could shape up to be one of the better hip-hop infused chillwave projects we've heard in a while.
