Eau Claire, Wisconsin, is a musically famed place for bringing us Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, but what most people may not know is that when Justin Vernon was coming up through the artistic ranks, it was actually Josh Scott (a fellow singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of Aero Flynn here) that was assumed to be the next big thing from the city. However, as life would have it, that didn't turn out to be the case. Josh eventually broke away from his band at the time and ended up moving to Chicago only to battle depression and later find out he has an auto-immune disease that will require a kidney transplant in the coming years. It's quite the chronicle for the artist, but now to give it all a happy present place is news of his band's impending self-titled debut album—one that'll be out on March 10 via Ooh La La Records and entirely co-produced by the other man mentioned above. Think of it as one of those full-circle situations in life where hard times are disguised as great looming rewards, because with tracks like "Crisp", the third one released from their album that we're premiering today, we've a bright example of what to expect from the sure-to-be-brimming upcoming body of work. There are predictable elements of folk involved with the track, but buried beneath it is a steady rush of phantasmagorical arrangements that really take you out of your comfort zone. Needless to say, it's an interesting listen, and as far as setting the tone for the album goes, a track like it is definitely going to pique interest—with or without Justin Vernon's involvement alongside.
