After what seemed like an endless wait this year, we finally got a taste of fresh Abhi//Dijon material with "Wait", and then, within a span of a week, we've been graced with another vibrant effort titled "Jon B". On top of that, we get news of a new mixtape announcement from the pair as well, as the Maryland duo talked to Pigeons & Planes about the latest project, Stay Up: “The upcoming tape is a departure from the earlier material, undeniably, but most of those tunes came from a place of uncertainty and development; feeling around in the dark. But we’re growing and we’re eager to share this song and this chapter. Stay Up.” There certainly is a recognizable refinement to Abhi and Dijon's sound, as "Jon B" exemplifies, and we hear gravelly textured, vaulting drums accompanying the signature lead vocals that we've come to know and love from them. There's significant reason with the effort and the one before it now to look ahead to their later material, and our waiting for that will be helped no doubt by this fine new effort here. [via P&P]
