We can always have more soul, metaphysically speaking, and, of course, musically as well, and Abhi and Dijon (Abhi//Dijon), two exceptionally talented, Maryland-residing, and imminently rising artists know this all too well. To be sure, the two have been able to supply a smooth, incredibly amiable sound that's been several times on display, and though the particular characteristics are some you'll find in other acts and efforts within the genre, Abhi and Dijon's carry a certain organic aesthetic that can't be denied. It's not exactly what you'd call "raw" or "unrefined", but it's a level of freshness to it that's not often seen in the curated works modern R&B often puts out. As a result, Abhi and Dijon are able to fashion their tracks in close proximity to their inspiration, and, as we're able to see on their debut EP today released, that's how it ought to be. Though only four tracks in length, the self-titled work reeks of authenticity all the way through. The aforementioned freshness—a transpiration of their honestly understood artistic vision—stays laced with sweet-sounding intimacies from track to track, and the project's near-thirteen-minute runtime will have you simultaneously appreciative and enveloped in glee. It's not often you hear such natural-sounding art as their own, so if it's indeed soulful sound you're after, but would like more genuine energy to go alone with the listening experience, spend ample time with Abhi and Dijon's self-titled EP.
