A$AP Ferg's been the next man up from the A$AP camp for quite a few years now. He's built hype for himself with bangers like "Work" and "Shabba", but now, he's reached the point of needing to create a timeless album if he wants to secure his spot as a modern great. Although his newly released one, Always Strive And Prosper, might not be that project, there are a few tracks on it that remind us of the massive potential he still has. "Psycho", our favorite cut from the album, is one of the best authentic works of hip-hop we've heard all year. The dreamy sample and relaxed beat, provided by DJ Khalil and Clams Casino, give Ferg a platform to flex his unique flow and engaging lyricism. If Ferg could hone in on this sound for an entire album, we think it'd be enough to push him into even higher acclaim. We hear Ferg step outside his comfort zone on EDM-styled, radio-friendly, Missy Elliot-featuring track "Strive" as well, and it, too, reveals the accessibility and appeal he has. Though we don't think Ferg has hit his stride just yet, we still see loads of potential in him, and we hope he can put it all to use in the future.
