“Oxymoron” by A2 isn’t gratuitously depressing, but the beautifully dark tempo running though the song will have no problem bringing things down a notch. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact the subdued, but ever-present, bass and some guttural vocals featured in the track join forces to create something notably eerie, and distinctly special. The lyrics are not quite rap, but every once in a while they perk up with a harsh edge vaguely similar to something from likes of The Group Called HR. A2 Artist has nailed it on the head with this one. Here’s to hoping the rest of his upcoming EP, VII, will be this good.
