"10,000 Recordings" is a new project with a bit of an interesting twist about them: they'd like you to think of them as a label with songs and without artists. At the end of one month and/or 10,000 plays for their tracks, they then reveal the artist(s) behind them, but until then, anonymity remains their game. It's an interesting approach that sheds light on what we all care about in the end—the music—and with their first-ever track, "Smile", we think the artists and label personnel are on to something. Fans of downtempo soul, especially, are going to appreciate the effort, and it's going to be interesting for all of us to see what becomes of 10K and their innovative outputs here.
